Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Arusha depart for Tarangire. Full day game drive in Tarangire National Park. Tarangire has a diverse landscape, with nine vegetation areas. Antique Baobab trees (the largest trees in Africa) dot the landscape dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. The Tarangire River thatwinds through the park attracts an abundance of wildlife, from elephants, lions, primates, leopards, buffalos, zebras, giraffes, antelopes to a variety of colorful birds. The park is very famous for having the greatest elephant population in Tanzania and Africa, and during a safari there you will have the chance of silentlywitnessing many families of elephants interacting. With a stop for a picnic lunch in an observatory inside the park where you will be able to view animals drinking water in the Tarangire river (and many times lions attacking a thirsty pray), continue game viewing and finally return to your lodge or campsite for dinner and OvernightTwiga Lodge.FB
Day 2: Tarangire-Lake Manyara National Park
After breakfast drive across the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park for a full day game drive. Although only 210 sq. in size this enchanting park is noted for its attractiveness and incredibly lush acacia forest of giant fig and mahogany trees, which are home to troops of baboons, blue monkeys and black velvet monkey. The park is also home to a large numbers of buffalos, giraffes, elephants, impalas and a Hippo’s. The park is well known for its birds (over 450 different species), Lake Manyara is one of the few places in Africa where you’ll be able to see the Ground Hornbill and the Crested Eagle. This park has become famous for the the climbing lions and the flamingos in the lake shore. The landscapes of these park are absolutely stunning, very different from other game parks. The game drives are done along the shore of the lake and swamps, providing incredible views of giraffe’s hippo’s and buffalos, flamingos and flat plains in the horizon. Great photo opportunities! Day 3: Lake Manyara – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast drive to Serengeti National Park, home of the Great Migration. Your drive today is spectacular as you drive up the crater rim and Ngorongoro highlands, stopping at the rim for a view of the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater. Continuing on, as you crest the hillside, spread out before you, as far as the eyes can see, is the vast Serengeti. Serengeti is Maasai words mean “endless plains” and this 6,900 sq. mile (18,000 sq. km) park is inhabited by more than 7 million large animals including more than a million wildebeest, hundreds of thousands of plains zebras,Buffalo, Elephants, and Thomson’s gazelles. Large predators including lions,Leopard, cheetahs, and hyenas are drawn to the area by this abundance of prey which migrates throughout Serengeti Park. Many smaller animals like, baboons, rock hyrax, bat eared foxes,jackals, mongoose, honey badger, monkeys, and African hares also inhabit the area along with more than 500 species of birds. Day4: Serengeti National Park – Central
(Option)A very early rise as you begin the morning with a magnificent hot air balloon ride over the vast Serengeti Plains. From tree top up to 1000 m, you will float above the wildlife for approximately one hour. Upon landing, you are served champagne and a traditional full English breakfast under an acacia tree. Day 5 and 6: Serengeti National Park – Following the Migration
On these two days you will haveearly morning safari after breakfast. Enjoy the endless plains of Serengeti with game viewing, A magnificent experience awaits as you travel to the most famous wildlife park in Africa the legendary Serengeti. Here you might have the chance to see the migration, where thousands of zebra and wildebeest migrating every year. Packed lunch is served and proceed for an afternoon game drive. Day 7: Serengeti – Ngorongoro
You will wake up very early to do an early morning safari before breakfast, to spot the animals when they are more active and also to have a fantastic sun rise in front of you. The sunrise in the African Savannah is one of the most beautiful experiences you can have. After the game drive, return to the camp for brunch, followed by a drive to Ngorongoro, the 8th natural wonder of the world. With walls 2,000 ft high and a crater floor that spreads for 105 sq. miles, Ngorongoro has been called a Garden of Eden, inhabited by almost every species of wildlife indigenous to East Africa including the rare black rhino. In fact, the crater has the greatest concentration of wild life in the planet. It contains a river, several swamps, a soda lake that, from the top, looks like steam, full of flamingoes, a forest and open plains. The large bull elephants that reside here have extremely large tusk, due to the rich mineral content of the volcanic soil and its grasses. Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha.
Very early in the morning, descend down to the crater floor for a day of wildlife viewing in one of the most incredible places on Earth. After a stop for a picnic lunch near the hippo lake, and more wildlife viewing in the afternoon, drive up the steep road out of the crater and return to Arusha.
*If you come from July to November, then the migration will be in the remote Northern Serengeti(Mara River). In this case, we would recommend doing Ngorongoro before the Serengeti and then flying out from the Northern Serengeti (Kogatende Airstrip) to Arusha or Zanzibar to remove all the backtracking. This tour can depart any day of the year.
