Lake Chala Day Tour
Tour Overview
Sitting on the border of Tanzania and Kenya, Lake Chala is one of those places that stops you the moment you set eyes on it. A water-filled volcanic crater formed over 250,000 years ago, the lake sits 95 meters deep and is wrapped by a dramatic 100-meter crater rim thick with forest.
At the lake you can walk the crater rim for sweeping views across into Kenya, descend to the shoreline, go kayaking on the open water, or simply sit and take in the scenery. Monkeys move through the trees above you. Fish eagles circle overhead. During the dry season, elephants sometimes cross over from Tsavo in Kenya.
