Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Is Tanzania safe for a first-time visitor?

Absolutely. Tanzania is known as one of the most peaceful and welcoming countries in Africa. At Uisso, we take it a step further: we provide airport pickups and have our own secure hostel in Moshi. From the moment you land, you’re in our hands. We’ll show you the local spots, help you with the language (Ssh! ‘Karibu’ means welcome), and ensure you feel at home.

Don’t let the logistics stress you out. Most visitors can get a ‘Visa on Arrival’ or apply for an E-Visa online. Regarding health, we recommend chatting with a travel clinic 4–6 weeks before you come. Once you book with us, we send you a ‘Uisso Prep Guide’ that breaks down exactly what you need to do, step-by-step.

To ensure we have the best guides and the best lodge availability for your safari, we recommend booking 3 to 6 months in advance. That said, we are locals based right here in Moshi—so if you’re planning a last-minute trip, get in touch! We can often pull off ‘miracle’ bookings that larger, overseas agencies can’t.

It depends on your dream! For the best wildlife viewing (The Great Migration) and Kilimanjaro climbs, June to October is the dry season and is generally best. However, January to March is also beautiful and a bit quieter. If you’re unsure, just send us a message with your preferred dates and we’ll tell you exactly what to expect from the weather.

Not at all. We host everyone from solo backpackers to families with young children and retirees. Whether you want a challenging 7-day trek or a relaxing 3-day ‘Leisure Safari’ in a comfortable 4×4, we tailor the pace to you. Our goal isn’t just to ‘survive’ the trip, it’s for you to enjoy every second of it
