Our standard Arusha National Park day trip is built around a classic 4×4 game drive. This allows you to cover the park’s diverse zones comfortably—from the “Little Serengeti” grasslands to the high-altitude viewpoints of the Ngurdoto Crater.

Because Arusha National Park is uniquely managed, it is one of the few places in Northern Tanzania where you can safely add a walking safari to your day. While game drives remain our core offering, we highly recommend the walking option for those who want to feel the African soil beneath their boots and stand just meters away from browsing giraffes.

  • The Game Drive (Standard): Explore the Ngurdoto Crater rim and the “Little Serengeti” in our custom 4×4 vehicles.

  • Colobus Monkeys: Observe the park’s famous residents—the acrobatic black-and-white colobus monkeys—often seen in the ancient cedar trees.

  • Optional Walking Safari: Step out of the vehicle for a 2-hour trek with an armed ranger to experience the wild on foot.

  • Momella Lakes: Witness the vibrant pink hues of thousands of flamingos against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro.

Detailed Itinerary

Departure from Arusha/Moshi

Your Uisso Adventures guide will pick you up from your hotel. The drive to the park gate is short and scenic, offering views of local life and the towering Mount Meru.

We begin our exploration in the montane forest, looking for the Blue Monkey and the iconic Colobus Monkey. We then drive to the Ngurdoto Crater rim to look down at the wildlife on the crater floor.

  • Note: If you pre-book the Walking Safari upgrade, you will meet your ranger here to begin your trek.

We break for a fresh picnic lunch at a scenic site, often overlooking the Momella Lakes or the Tululusia Waterfall.

We continue our game drive toward the Momella Lakes. The lakes are a haven for birdlife and hippos.

  • Note: This is the time for the Optional Canoeing Safari. If you choose the standard tour, your guide will continue the game drive through the grasslands to find the park’s famous giraffe herds.

We make a final drive through the park’s valleys before exiting the gate and transferring you back to your hotel or the airport.
