Day by Day Itinerary

Start the trek through pine forests on the northern slopes. Gentle ascent with views of the Kenyan plains. Overnight at Simba Camp (2,600m).

Gradual climb through moorland and heather. Enjoy views of Kibo and Mawenzi peaks. Camp near Second Cave (3,450m).

Continue eastward towards the jagged Mawenzi peak. The landscape opens to wide alpine terrain. Overnight at Kikelewa Camp (3,700m).

A short but steep ascent rewards you with one of Kilimanjaro’s most stunning campsites beneath the towering Mawenzi spires (4,330m).

Traverse the alpine desert between Mawenzi and Kibo. Camp at Kibo Hut (4,700m), the base for your summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the night climb.

Start your summit climb around midnight, reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m) at sunrise. After celebration and photos, descend via Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate.
