Day by Day Itinerary

The trek begins in dense rainforest with a steep and direct ascent up narrow ridges. Camp at Umbwe Cave (2,940m), surrounded by lush jungle and mountain sounds.

Continue climbing sharply through mossy forest to the heather zone. Join the Machame route near Barranco Camp (3,950m) with dramatic views of the southern ice fields.

Cross the Barranco Wall — an exhilarating scramble with panoramic views. Continue to Karanga Camp (3,995m) for rest and acclimatisation.

A steady climb through the alpine desert to Barafu Camp (4,673m), the base for the final ascent. Rest early and prepare for the midnight summit attempt.

Begin your ascent at midnight to reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m) by sunrise. Enjoy breathtaking views from the Roof of Africa before descending to Mweka Camp for overnight rest.

A descent through lush rainforest leads to Mweka Gate (1,640m), where you’ll receive your summit certificate and celebrate your accomplishment.
