Detailed Itinerary

Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your hotel in Moshi for rest, briefing, and final gear check. Accommodation: hotel in Moshi.

Registration at Londorossi Gate, then trekking through lush rainforest, listening to birds and spotting wildlife, before reaching Mti Mkubwa (Big Tree) Camp. Distance: 6km | Time: 3-4hrs.

The trail climbs steadily through heath and moorland zones. As you cross the Shira Ridge, vast high-altitude plains open up and your first clear views of Kilimanjaro appear. Distance: 8km | Time: 6-8hrs.

You move east into a dramatic semi-desert landscape near Lava Tower. The remote Moir Camp, surrounded by volcanic rock formations and cliffs, offers solitude and excellent acclimatization. Distance: 9km | Time: 6-8hrs.

Climb high, sleep low. You trek toward Lava Tower to stimulate acclimatization, then descend through the scenic Senecio forest and waterfalls into Barranco Camp, set beneath the towering Barranco Wall. Distance: ~7km.

The day begins with a scramble up the famous Barranco Wall — challenging but rewarding. The trail continues through Karanga Valley before reaching Barafu Camp, your final base before summit night. Distance: 9km.

Summit night begins around 1:00 AM. The climb is slow and steady under the stars. As the sun rises, you reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebration, descend to Barafu then continue to Mweka Camp. Distance: 21km | Time: 12-14hrs.

A gentle descent through lush rainforest leads to Mweka Gate, where you receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to your hotel for a hot shower and well-earned rest.
