Kupanda Kilimanjaro Njia ya Marangu Siku 6

6 days Small groups, huts on route From USD 1,800 per person

Detailed Itinerary

Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your hotel in Moshi. Relax, recover from your journey, and meet your guide for a full trek briefing and gear check. Accommodation: hotel in Moshi. Meals: dinner (depending on arrival time).

After breakfast, drive to Marangu Gate to complete park formalities before entering the lush rainforest. The trail winds through towering trees and rich wildlife until you reach Mandara Hut. Distance: ~8km. Habitat: rainforest. Accommodation: Mandara Hut.

The trail opens into alpine meadows with breathtaking views of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. As altitude increases, your pace slows — exactly as it should. You arrive at Horombo Hut, your base for acclimatization. Distance: ~12km.

Today is dedicated to acclimatization, one of the most important days of the climb. You'll hike toward Mawenzi Hut, passing the famous Zebra Rocks, then return to Horombo. Hydration, slow walking, and rest are emphasized.

The landscape becomes rugged and dramatic as you cross the saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo. Giant lobelias appear, and the air thins as you approach Kibo Hut, your final stop before the summit attempt. Distance: ~10km.

You begin the ascent around midnight, climbing steadily through frozen scree to Gilman's Point — the toughest part of the route. From there, it's a final walk along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating and photos, you descend back to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.

Descend through the rainforest to Marangu Gate, where you receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha for rest and celebration.
