Panda Machame Siku 7

7 days Camping route, requires good physical fitness From USD 2,800 per person

Detailed Itinerary

Transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to your hotel in Moshi for rest, briefing, and final gear check.

We begin at the park gate, winding through a deep, emerald rainforest where Colobus monkeys call from the canopy, following a steady ridge to our first high-altitude camp. Elevation: 1,800m to 2,835m. Distance: 11km.

Leaving the forest behind, we tackle a steep, rocky path opening into heath and moorlands, crossing a river gorge before settling on the expansive Shira Plateau. Elevation: 2,835m to 3,750m. Distance: 5km.

We ascend to the massive volcanic Lava Tower for lunch before descending into the Senecio-filled Barranco Valley — "climb high, sleep low" to help your body adjust. Elevation: 3,750m to 4,600m then to 3,900m.

The morning begins with a scramble up the Great Barranco Wall, offering the best views on the mountain, before a final steep climb into Karanga. Elevation: 3,900m to 3,995m. Distance: 5km.

We trek across a desolate, lunar landscape to the junction of the Mweka Trail, establishing high camp at Barafu, resting early for the midnight summit push. Elevation: 3,995m to 4,673m.

We push for the summit in freezing darkness, reaching Stella Point at sunrise before continuing to Uhuru Peak, then a long descent to the forest line. Elevation: 4,673m to 5,895m then down to 3,100m.

A gentle trek down through mist-covered forest to the park exit. We celebrate at the gate, collect certificates, and drive back to Moshi for a well-earned rest.
